College in the High School

Most families have heard of the Running Start and Advanced Placement opportunities for college credit.

Did you know there is another option?

What is College in the High School?

  • College in the High School (CiHS) allows high school students to take university courses from approved high school teachers at their high school

  • Multiple universities (Central Washington, University of Washington, and others) offer CiHS classes

  • Students earn official university credit on a university transcript for each CiHS class they enroll in

How does College in the High School work at BVA?

  • BVA CiHS classes are through Central Washington University

  • BVA teachers meet with a department liaison from CWU to ensure the high school coursework, syllabus, and assessments are aligned with the university coursework

  • All students are eligible to take a CiHS class for high school credit, but additional steps are required for university credit
