High School Completion Options

Credit Recovery

Bethel Virtual Academy offers several options for credit recovery.

All BVA classes are self-paced. The curriculum for the entire course is available on the first day. This means that students are able to work ahead and finish classes early. Once the class has been completed the credit can be transferred to the transcript, and a new class put in the student's schedule.

Students should plan on finishing a class in the first half of the trimester to allow them time to finish the second class before the end of the trimester.

Contact Mrs. Wardle for more information.

Option #1: Edgenuity Credit Recovery

BVA uses a program called Edgenuity for core class credit recovery. These credit recovery classes are shortened versions of the regular class and utilize a feature called Pre-Testing. Pre-Testing allows students the opportunity to ‘test out’ or bypass content in the credit recovery class based on what they remember from the regular class.  Using the Credit Recovery format and Pre-Testing means students can complete a credit recovery class much faster than retaking the full, regular class.

Important Considerations:

  • Students must have attempted and failed the regular class before they are eligible for a credit recovery class

  • Credit Recovery classes are Pass/Fail (P / F) only

  • Pass (P) grades do not impact GPA and cannot be used to improve GPA

  • Credit Recovery classes are not NCAA approved

* Students wanting to improve GPA or aspiring athletes should take the regular classes instead of the credit recovery*

Earning Credit

Students must complete 100% of the course with at least a 70% average in order to get credit.

Logistics

The Edgenuity Credit Recovery classes are in the student's regular schedule. CR classes are frequently paired up in a trimester. For example, a student who needs ELA 9A and World Studies B might have ELA 9A CR in their schedule for the first half of the trimester and switch to World Studies B for the second half of the trimester. This allows students to not only complete the graduation requirements but also earn back missing credits.
